Who's on Skype?

I've been using Skype to keep in touch with Aaron, and I'm really happy with it. Has anyone else taken the VOIP plunge? It's a great way to avoid running out of minutes.

I'm on Facebook, too, for those with a .edu address. I feel so trendy.

Although I had heard the word, I didn't actually know what Skype was until this evening. I had it confused with the image search engine where you draw what you're searching for.

I've got a cell phone for the free long distance calls to Ellen, so I don't really have a use for VOIP. In fact, the only reason I still have a land line is because I have DSL through SBC and I have the (possibly incorrect) impression that it wouldn't be any cheaper overall if I dropped the phone line.

I might consider installing IM software with voice/video if I knew anyone who preferred that to the phone.

Kate (my girlfriend, who's living in Wisconsin right now) and I switched the the same cell phone plan. Free mobile to mobile minutes have worked out well for us. I think we spent on the order of 1800 minutes talking to each other last month.

We use Skype too, and it's great, but the cell phone is more portable, and we don't care too much about video. We use IM sometimes to talk during the day.

The one and only reason I got a cell phone was for the free long distance for calling Ellen. I'm not sure if I will actually give it up once we're in the same place, though. It has its uses.

But since Aaron is in Germany I don't think there are any attractive "in-network calling" plans that would work.
